On November 28, 2017, J-FLO Entertainment announced that they would be debuting a new boy group called Newkidd. They also announced that the group would be releasing a pre-debut single as a sub-unit with Jinkwon as one of the members. They officially released their first pre-debut single "Will You Be Ma" under the name Newkidd - Lemme Spoil U.
On July 11, 2018, Jinkwon was introduced as one of the members of Newkidd's second sub-unit Newkidd02. They released the pre-debut single album "Boy Boy Boy" on July 25, 2018. On April 18, 2019, Newkidd released news of their official debut along with individual teasers.
Jinkwon officially made his debut with the group on April 25. On August 10, 2021, he was introduced as the 10th contestant of the survival show Wild Idol. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the third episode and was unable to make it further in the show.
