In 2008, He was cast into SM Entertainment, through the SM Global Audition in September 2007 in Chicago. On December 23, 2013, he was introduced as a member of SM Entertainment's pre-debut training team, SMROOKIES.    In 2014, he participated with other NCT-co members on the show Exo 90:2014, where they performed songs from the 90s.

In 2016, he was featured in J-Min's "Ready For Your Love" music video. He played the DJ in the music video of Amber & Luna - "Heartbeat", & Yoon Do-hyun, Reddy, G2 and INLAYER - "Nightmare".    On January 6, 2017, he officially debuted as a member of NCT, in the unit NCT 127, with the NCT #127 Limitless.
