On October 25, 2018, he was introduced as a contestant of Under Nineteen with his moving poster. The poster revealed that he was a part of the performance team. He finished in ninth place, thus becoming a member of the project group 1THE9.
On April 13, 2019, the group officially debuted with the mini album XIX. 1THE9 officially disbanded on August 8, 2020, following the release of their final mini album Good Bye 1THE9. On August 12, 2020, OUI Entertainment confirmed that Kim Jun Seo would be debuting with WEi, their upcoming group.
The group debuted on October 5 with their first mini album, Identity : First Sight. On June 12, 2025, he was introduced as a contestant of Mnet's survival show Boys II Planet, representing OUI Entertainment. During the show's finale, he was revealed to have ranked 8th overall, thus making him a member of ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
The group would make their debut on January 12, 2026 with the mini album Euphoria.
