On October 16, 2014, Choi Yoonsun was revealed as the second member of TS Entertainment's new girl group SONAMOO under the stage name New Sun. She debuted with SONAMOO on December 29, 2014 with the group's first mini album Deja Vu. On June 19, 2021, Choi Yoonsun made her unofficial solo debut with the self-composed song, "Lotion".
The song was only made available on YouTube with its music video and on SoundCloud as an audio track. TS Entertainment had no involvement in the song's release. On September 11, she confirmed on Instagram that she had departed from TS Entertainment and the group.
On November 1, she signed a contract with AnB Group. She will be promoting as an actress under her birth name Choi Yoonsun.
