On December 10, 2023, Karine was revealed to be one of the girls participating in Shinwha Entertainment's audition program. Sometime in mid-late 2024, she unfollowed Shinwha Entertainment and NextU, and removed "Shinwha Entertainment Trainee" from her Instagram bio. On November 17, 2024, NewsPatch reported that DE:VA made their first-ever public appearance at the 2024 WPOP EDM Festival, where they also unveiled additional member Karine.
