Lisa passed the audition to join YG Entertainment in 2011 and moved to South Korea to train. In November 2013, she appeared as a backup dancer in Taeyang's "Ringa Linga" music video along with members of iKon and Winner. She also modeled for Nona9on and Moonshot in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
She was revealed as the second member of BLACKPINK on June 7, 2016. The group made their debut on August 8, 2016 with their first digital single album "Square One". Lisa served as the dance mentor on the 2020 Chinese girl group survival [https://en.

Later that day, a representative from YG Entertainment confirmed the news, stating that Lisa would be making her solo debut in August. On August 23, YG Entertainment revealed the first teaser. Her first single album "Lalisa" was released on September 10.

On April 19, it was revealed that she will be featured on the track "Shoong! " for his EP, Down to Earth which was released on April 25. In September 2023, Lisa performed at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris.
On December 29, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that Lisa, along with the other members of Blackpink, had renewed their contracts for group activities, but chose not to have their individual activities managed by YG. On February 8, Lisa announced that she had established her own agency, LLOUD, to manage her solo activities. On April 10, LLOUD announced that Lisa has also signed with American record label to manage her activities in the United States.
On June 6, via her official website, Lisa announced an upcoming comeback with pre-save links to new music on streaming platforms. On June 18, she announced that her single, "Rockstar" would be released on June 28. On August 3, Lisa released a teaser clip of a new song, then believed to be named, "Brand New Día".
On August 6, Lisa announced that she will be releasing "New Woman" with on August 16. On September 21, LLOUD shared a snippet of Lisa's upcoming single with the caption 'So kiss me 🌙💋'. It was announced that the single, titled "Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)" would be released on October 4.
On November 13, 2024, Lisa unveiled a countdown on her official website for November 20. On November 20, an album teaser video for her debut album, Alter Ego, was unveiled, which was released on February 28, 2025. "Born Again" was pre-released on February 7.
