On December 30, 2022, YG Entertainment unveiled a teaser poster announcing their plans to debuting a new girl group. On January 1, 2023 through a YouTube video titled "YG NEXT MOVEMENT", the group name was confirmed to be BABYMONSTER. In the same video, Ahyeon could be seen practicing, seemingly confirming her status as a member of the group.
On January 16, Ahyeon was introduced through a live performance as the second member of BABYMONSTER. On November 15, it was announced that Ahyeon recently left BABYMONSTER due to health reasons. However, it was later confirmed that Ahyeon will remain a member of the group and will not participate in debut activities due to health reasons.
On January 25, 2024, YG announced that Ahyeon will be debuting with BABYMONSTER with their first mini album BABYMONS7ER on April 1.
