On December 25, 2016, Ruka was introduced as one of the founding members of the Japanese idol group Shibu3 project. The group made their live debut on March 26, 2017. She left the group sometime after April 2018.
On December 30, 2022, YG Entertainment unveiled a teaser poster announcing their plans to debut a new girl group. On January 1, 2023, the group's name was confirmed to be BABYMONSTER. In the same video, Ruka could be seen practicing, seemingly confirming her status as a member of the group.
On February 6, Ruka was introduced through a live performance as the seventh and final member of BABYMONSTER. They made their debut on April 1, 2024 with the mini album BABYMONS7ER.
