On July 28, 2022, Echae (then spelled as Ichae) was officially revealed as a member of an upcoming girl group under ONO Entertainment through her introduction video on YouTube Shorts. The girl group was later revealed to be A. iRiD.
She participated in the group's first pre-debut digital single, "First Flight", released on September 1, 2022, and their second pre-debut single "Super Freaky Girls", released on December 19, 2022. Sometime in early 2023, Echae was discovered to have left A. iRiD after she was removed from their Naver profile and subsequently absent from group activities.
