In March 2023, TJ was the first publicly revealed trainee of ChoCo Entertainment and their trainee group ChoCo1&2. TJ was later featured in the song "Freeze", released in the studio album ChoCo Takes Hollywood (MAX), released on June 1, 2023. On June 12, 2025, he was introduced as a contestant of Mnet's survival show Boys II Planet, representing ChoCo Entertainment.
On September 4, he was eliminated in episode 8 after ranking 45th place. On February 15, ChoCo Entertainment announced that TJ had changed his stage name to Taejo.
