On June 10, 2021, Brand New Music announced the launch of an upcoming boy group slated to debut in the first half of next year, and that soloist and former X1 member Eunsang would be a member of the lineup. It will be the agency's first group with a large number of members. On July 21, 2021, Brand New Music applied for a trademark right for "YOUNITE".
On January 6, 2022, a dance video was dropped, which revealed that their new boy group would consist of nine members along with Eunsang and former JYP Entertainment trainee and former LOUD contestant Lim Kyoung Mun. On February 13, 2022, Brand New Music opened SNS accounts for their latest upcoming boy group, YOUNITE, and released a debut teaser video. Two days later, Eunsang was officially announced as the group's first member, followed by Woono on February 16, Steve on February 17, Kyungmun on February 18, Hyungseok on February 19, Eunho on February 21, Hyunseung on February 22, Sion on February 23, and DEY on February 24.
On March 18, YOUNITE announced that they would debut with their first EP, Youni-Birth, which was released on April 20. The music video for "Everybody" was pre-released on March 31. The next day, it was revealed that their fandom name would be YOUNIZ, a play on words referencing both their group name and the word "needs", meaning that YOUNITE and their fans need one another.
On July 5, a teaser was released revealing their second EP, Youni-Q, which was released on July 25. On October 14, a teaser was released revealing their third EP, Youni-On, which was released on October 31. On April 26, a teaser was released revealing their fourth EP, 빛 : Bit Part.

On April 8, 2024, YOUNITE dropped a teaser video, hinting at their upcoming comeback. On April 11, they announced that they will release their sixth EP Another on May 1. On June 12, Brand New Music announced through the group's fan café which revealed that member Hyunseung would take a break from activities for the time being until further notice due to personal reasons.
He ultimately left the group and agency on July 2. On July 10, it was announced that YOUNITE would be participating in Road to Kingdom : Ace of Ace. On November 29, the group released a teaser video for their first single album "Y", set for release on December 11.
On March 20, 2025, the group released a teaser for their seventh EP Youni-T, set for release on April 23. On July 28, YOUNITE announced their second single album "Bomba", scheduled for August 4. On February 13, 2026, YOUNITE announced the closure of their b.
stage service on February 28. The group will be moving to a different platform.
