On December 3, 2023, NineTwo Entertainment opened up SNS accounts for their upcoming boy group 3WAY set to debut in 2024. On February 7, 2024, the group posted profile pictures of a new member Ryo, who had been selected through their auditions in Japan. On March 4, NineTwo Entertainment announced Jeong Deunhaesol had left the group.
On March 12, it was announced that the group would release the pre-debut single "On My Way" on April 5. On June 26, Tsukasa, Leno and a mystery member were announced to be joining the group. On July 12, Xiho was revealed as a member and Tsukasa was removed as a member.
On September 13, Aoi was announced as the final member. On November 6, they unveiled the teaser for their second pre-debut single, "Hey Girl", which was released on November 8. On December 13, they unveiled the teaser for their third pre-debut single, "Re:Make 3WAY (ep.
AxisB)", which was released on December 14. On February 18, 2025, they unveiled the teaser for their debut mini album, Highway, which was released on February 27. On May 9, it was announced that 3WAY would make their Japanese debut with the mini album Highway -Japanese Ver.
- on May 27. On May 19, it was announced that 3WAY's first sub-unit, WHIT3, comprised of members Ryo, Aoi, Xiho, Rintaro and Leno, will begin promoting in Japan on June 20 until June 29. On August 25, they unveiled the scheduler for their first single album, "Re:Make 3WAY (ep.
PIXY)", which was released on September 4. On September 21, the group changed its name to W3WAY. All of their social media accounts have also been rebranded.
On October 27, NineTwo Entertainment announced Jeongyoon had left the group. On January 7, 2026, NineTwo Entertainment announced Leno had left the group and the agency due to knee injury. On March 22, 2026, W3WAY announced a video call fan meeting on March 27 and 28 where they will showcase a preview for their new song.
On April 1, 2026, W3WAY announced that they will release their first digital single, "The Spring of Us", on April 8.
