In late 2011, he was introduced as a member of Excellent Entertainment's boy group E7. On August 14, 2012, he made his debut as a member of the group with their first digital single "Rising Sun". The group was short-lived as they presumably disbanded in mid-2013 due to inactivity.
On May 28, 2017, Bokeun was revealed as a member of ELVIN CREW, under the stage name Josh. He debuted in the group with their first digital single "Good Girl" the following day. Shortly after their debut, he presumably left the group.
In June 2018, he became a member of SIGNAL. He officially debuted as a member of the group with their first digital single "The First Signal : Begins" on August 28, 2019. On June 1, 2021, SIGNAL was announced to have disbanded.
