On April 19, 2015, The8 was introduced through a video teaser as one of the 13 members of Pledis Entertainment's newest boy group SEVENTEEN. The group would be introduced through the reality program Seventeen Project – The Debut Mission. On May 26, he debuted with the group with their first mini album 17 Carat.
On May 24, 2019, he announced that he would be releasing his first Chinese single "Dreams Come True" on June 9. On May 4, 2020, he announced that he would be releasing his second Chinese digital single "Falling Down" on May 8. On April 8 2021, he announced that he would be releasing his third digital single "Side By Side" on April 13.
On March 13, 2022, he announced that he would be releasing his fourth Chinese digital single "Hai Cheng" on March 18. On November 21, 2024, Pledis Entertainment announced that The8 would be releasing his first Chinese EP Stardust on December 4. On August 28, 2025, SEVENTEEN announced the release schedule of The8's new digital single, "Star Crossing Night", featuring the Chinese rapper Gali.
On March 12, 2026, Pledis Entertainment revealed that members Vernon and The8 are currently is the midst of preparations for a unit album scheduled for June.
