On April 19, 2015, Mingyu was introduced through a video teaser as one of the 13 members of Pledis Entertainment's newest boy group SEVENTEEN. The group would be introduced through the reality program Seventeen Project – The Debut Mission. On May 26, he debuted with the group with their first mini album 17 Carat.
On August 11, 2025, it was announced that members S. Coups and Mingyu will release a unit album in September. Previous reports stated that they recently finished filming the music video for their title track in Los Angeles.
On September 3, Pledis Entertainment announced that the unit S. Coups X Mingyu would be debuting on September 29 with the mini album Hype Vibes.
