On September 21, 2020, it was revealed that Shotaro, along with Sungchan, will be debuting in NCT with the album NCT Resonance Pt. 1. He was officially introduced in the V Live broadcast on September 23.
On October 12, he made his official debut under the sub-unit NCT U, as a part of the NCT's 2020 project NCT Resonance Pt. 1, with the song "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)". On May 24, SM announced that Shotaro would be officially leaving NCT in order to join the agency's upcoming new boy group scheduled to debut within 2023.
On August 1, 2023, Shotaro was officially introduced as a member of RIIZE. They debuted on September 4, 2023 with their first single album "Get A Guitar".
