On September 21, 2020, it was revealed that Sungchan, along with Shotaro, will be debuting in NCT with the album NCT Resonance Pt. 1 on October 12. He was officially introduced in the V LIVE broadcast on September 23.
On May 24, SM announced that Sungchan would be officially leaving NCT in order to join the agency's upcoming new boy group scheduled to debut within 2023. On August 1, 2023, Sungchan was officially introduced as a member of RIIZE. They debuted on September 4, 2023 with their first single album "Get A Guitar".
