In October 2017, Kangsan participated in the auditions on JTBC's new survival show MIXNINE under Astory Entertainment. Unfortunately he did not become an official contestant. On February 24, 2020, Kangsan was revealed to be one of the members of the boy group Shooter-X.
On January 12, 2022, PLUSWIN Entertainment shared information on an online fanmeeting event without mentioning Kangsan, despite the previous announcement on January 5 including his involvement. It is presumed that he left the group at this time as he had not appeared in any more posts after January 5. On November 4, 2023, Kangsan was announced as one of the members of MUL.
On June 19, 2024, it was announced that MUL's debut had been cancelled. On May 18, 2025, MUL announced their comeback via Instagram. They are currently preparing for their upcoming "Shining Summer with MUL" tour in Japan, which runs from June 21 to July 21, 2025.
