On February 20, 2023, he was introduced as a contestant on MBC's boy group survival show Fantasy Boys. During the show's finale, he was revealed to have ranked 8th overall, thus making him a member of FANTASY BOYS. They debuted on September 21, 2023 with the mini album New Tomorrow.

On September 29, 2024, Hikari was introduced as a contestant on the Chinese-South Korean survival show Starlight Boys. On December 21, he was eliminated in episode 9 after ranking 19th place. On January 17, 2025, PocketDol Studio revealed that BAE173 will be collaborating with FANTASY BOYS, including Hikari, for a release sometime in March or April.
