On June 4, 2022, Gaku was introduced as a participant in the HYBE Labels Japan's then-upcoming survival show &AUDITION - The Howling -. On August 24, 2023, Gaku, along with Hikaru, completed their final debut test as trainees. On September 13, both were announced as debuting members for 24kumi, the then-upcoming boy group under HYBE Labels Japan (now known as YX LABELS), later revealed on September 24.
However, the group disbanded in early 2025. On February 2, 2025, Gaku was announced as one of the 11 participants of the audition program titled Oen-High. The results of a public fan voting for the final two members of aoen were announced during a live broadcast of 's show DayDay.
which revealed he ranked 6th overall, thus making him a part of the debut lineup. The group made their debut with the single album "The Blue Sun" on June 11.
