K attended EXPG studio in Sendai from 2017 to 2019 where he participated in dance and vocal lessons aiming to sign with LDH as a dance and vocal member. On the first episode, he performed "Danger" by Taemin and was able to enter "I-LAND". On the seventh episode, he ranked fifth based on the global votes and was able to move onto Part 2 and become one of the final 12.
He survived until the final episode, where he fell one place out of the debut ranking and was unable to debut with ENHYPEN. On January 1, 2021, he was revealed as a member of the HYBE Labels Japan's Global Debut Project boy group. &TEAM made their debut on December 7, 2022.
On June 4, 2022, K was introduced as a participant in the HYBE Labels Japan's upcoming survival show &AUDITION - The Howling -. In the final episode, which was aired on September 3, he was announced as one of the contestants who will be debuting in the winning group &TEAM. They debuted on December 7, 2022 with the mini album First Howling : ME.
