In 2012, SeolA was part of the lineup for VIVA Girls, a seven-member girl group under Medialine. However, due to financial issues, the group never debuted. Other members of the group included EXY, 9MUSES' Gyeongree, Dalshabet's Woohee, Stellar's Hyoeun, Hello Venus' Lime, and Kiss&Cry's Soyumi.
She was revealed as a member of WJSN on December 24, 2015 as part of the group's Sweet Unit. The group officially debuted on February 25, 2016 with their first mini album Would You Like?. On August 6, she debuted as a member of the project group Y TEEN with the single "Do Better".
On June 1, 2018, she debuted as a member of the special project group WJMK with the single "Strong". On May 12, 2021, she debuted as a member of WJSN's second sub-unit, WJSN THE BLACK, with the single album "My Attitude". On December 1, 2023, Starship Entertainment announced that SeolA will be making her solo debut in January 2024.
On December 29, it was announced that SeolA will be making her debut on January 23, 2024 with her first single album, "Inside Out".
