In 2017, using her birth name Jiwon, Ruby was set to debut in the girl group Elado. The group released one pre-debut digital single, "Do It", before presumably disbanding. On November 10, 2022, Ruby was revealed as the first member of the duo PRIMROSE.
They made their debut on January 13, 2023 with the mini album Red Moon.
