On December 30, 2018, Ayu was seen performing with HitGirlz on X Entertainment First Mini Concert. On March 4, 2019, X Entertainment uploaded a dance cover video by Ayu on Youtube and tagged her name, thus confirming her as a member of HitGirlz. On October 19, 2021, Ayu became one of five finalists for Happyface Entertainment's Japanese audition alongside Ryoka, set to performance on October 22.
Unfortunately, no winner was announced from the audition and the finalists were sent back to Japan. Sometime in May 2022, Ayu was revealed as the newest member of the girl group PBT through their webpage on GKMNEO's official website. The group later renamed as MuuTive.
They released their first pre-debut digital single "Ahha" on July 22, 2022. However, the group silently disbanded sometime in May 2023 after they were removed from GKMNEO's official website, and Ayu was assumed to have left the company.
