On April 14, 2022, GKMNEO announced that they will work with Padox_Sori to debut their new girl group called PBT. They also announced that the group will release their debut album in July 2022, as well as hold concerts in Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand before having their Japanese debut in October 2022 and Korean music program debut in January 2023. Sometime in May 2022, GKMNEO revealed that Ayu joined the group as their newest member through their official webpage, while Gulnazar left the group but stayed under GKMNEO as a trainee.
Sometime in June 2022, the group finalized their lineup as a four-member group and changed their name from PBT to MuuTive, a portmanteau of the words "Muse" and "Motive". On June 26, GKMNEO officially introduced the group's new name and final lineup across their SNS. They also announced the scheduled debut date on October 14, 2022, as well as their plan to debut in Tokyo, Japan.
On July 20, 2022, GKMNEO announced that the group will release their first digital single "Ahha" two days later on July 22, and released the individual concept photos for the members. A few hours later, GKMNEO revealed that there will only be music released for the album, while their official debut stage will be held in Japan in October. On July 22, it was further confirmed that "Ahha" is a pre-debut single for the group's unofficial activities before debuting.
On October 24, 2022, GKMNEO announced that GREX has stopped her group activities due to health problems. It was also revealed that their debut has been postponed, and a new member Haru has joined the group. Sometime in May 2023, the group's webpage was removed from GKMNEO's official website, while Jimin and Ahryung were listed as the company's solo artists, hinting that the group had silently disbanded.
