In 2014, JS Entertainment formed the dance team LAYSHA. The team went on to perform at various events and gained attention for their provocative performance style. That year, the group’s original lineup consisted of Som, Goeun, Becky (later known as Chaejin), Seulgi, and Hyeri.
Some time later, Hyeri left the group and was replaced by Yoobin. Promotional photo for "[[Laysha (single)|Laysha". ]] On May 12, 2015, LAYSHA made their debut with the self-titled digital single "Laysha" and the title track "Turn Up The Music".
Shortly after their debut, Seulgi quietly left the group and Choim was subsequently add in to maintain their five-member system. With this, the group began teasing a comeback by performing two new songs, "Hello" and "Good Bye My Boy", on August 20 at Resin Coex and JS Entertainment's joint event. However, the comeback presumably got cancelled as Choim and Yoobin also departed from the group.
On October 10, pre-debut member Hyeri officially announced her return to the group, effectively reorganizing LAYSHA as their best known four-member lineup. Promotional photo for "[[Pink Label". ]] On July 20, 2016, they released their second digital single "Chocolate Cream".
On November 11, the group came back with their third digital single "Party Tonight", a remake of a song of the same name by the duo Duke. On December 18, 2017, they returned to the music scene after a year with their fourth digital single "Pink Label". On August 29, 2018, Som spoke out against extreme invasion of their privacy after footage of the group getting spied on with hidden cameras placed in their rooms were leaked online.
Two days later, Goeun took to Instagram to denied suspicions that they were using the molka incident as noise marketing and confirmed that their agency wasn't involved in the incident. She also revealed that the leak was caused by the web entertainment team that they worked with in the past and that they planned to take legal actions. On November 2, it was reported that Goeun had founded A1 Entertainment in order to manage the group's future activities.
On December 11, they launched a crowdfunding project on Makestar, which later ended on March 7, 2019. While the project surpassed its goal by 74%, it was ultimately cancelled due to unknown reasons. On March 2, 2019, Hadam appeared to have joined the group as a guest member to fill in for Som, who was on hiatus at the time and would be returning in mid-March.
On April 19, Hayeon appeared to have replaced Hadam as a guest member. On June 5, they revealed their new lineup with two new members, Hayoung and Sia. Four days later, it was announced that Som had gone on an extended hiatus due to sickness while Hyeri had left the group.
On August 8, they confirmed that Som and Hyeri had left the group due to health and personal reasons but were on good terms with the group. The following day, Boreum was announced as a new member. Promotional photo for "[[Freedom (LAYSHA)|Freedom".
]] On December 20, they released their fifth digital single "Freedom". In June 2021, the group revealed a new guest member, Semi, for their tour LAYSHA Bomba Live Hangzhou China Concert in China. Once the tour in China was over, Semi left the group.
On November 19, it was reported that LAYSHA had signed an exclusive contract with Double Media. Promotional photo for "[[Red Flower". ]] On March 29, 2023, it was announced through their Instagram that Boreum had departed from LAYSHA due to health issues.
Thus, LAYSHA continued with the three remaining members. On April 3, LAYSHA announced the addition of two new members, Bitna and Rahye, as well as Chaejin's stage name change to Rizell. However, she went back to promote as Chaejin again shortly after.
