On July 1, 2021, No. 1 Media (previously known as Zenith Media Contents) announced that they would be debuting a Korean-Japanese girl group called PoshGirls in mid-August. The group would consist of four Korean and four Japanese members and that their debut mini album would be released simultaneously in Korea and Japan.

On August 10, it was confirmed that PoshGirls would be making their debut on August 18 and will use Hallyu wave cultural content called "Z-Pop". In October, it was revealed that Jiwoo, Doyeon and Yejin had left the group for unknown reasons. On February 8, 2022, it was announced that PoshGirls would have a sub-unit consisting of the Japanese line (Miyu, Riona, Niina, Tsugumi) named PoshGirls-J.
