On July 1, 2021, No. 1 Media (previously known as Zenith Media Contents) announced that they would be debuting a Korean-Japanese girl group called PoshGirls in mid-August. The group would consist of four Korean and four Japanese members and that their debut mini album would be released simultaneously in Korea and Japan.
On August 10, it was confirmed that PoshGirls would be making their debut on August 18 and will use Hallyu wave cultural content called "Z-Pop". In October, it was revealed that Jiwoo, Doyeon and Yejin had left the group for unknown reasons. On February 8, 2022, it was announced that PoshGirls would have a sub-unit consisting of the Japanese line (Miyu, Riona, Niina, Tsugumi) named PoshGirls-J.
On March 15, they announced the second sub-unit, PoshGirls-K, consisting of the Korean line (Jiin, Yeny and new member Seah) with a post about a cover collaboration remake of the song "Got Chu" of the metal Korean band CRASH. On May 14, it was announced that PoshGirls-J would be making their debut on June 22, 2022 in Japan with the mini album Lali:lala. On November 29, PoshGirls released a teaser image for their first single, "Alien", which would be released on December 9.
On December 1, it was announced that a new Japanese member Lili would be joining the group, and the group would be performing as 5 members. On March 1, 2023, it was announced that the group had disbanded due to company management issues, with plans of Miyu, Riona and Lili re-debuting as a three-member group at a later time. As a result, Tsumugi and Niina would be effectively leaving the group and agency.
On April 6, it was revealed that the group had reformed and they would be continuing with three members, Miyu, Riona and Lili. On May 1, it was announced that Lili has left the group while a new member, Saya, would be joining the group. On July 27, it was announced that the group is looking for new members.
On October 15, it was revealed that the group has changed their name to GG (Global Girls) and also added new members Miyuna and Yerin.
