She debuted as a member of FIESTAR on August 31, 2012 with the group's first single album "Vista". In February 2017, it was reported that she had signed on with Mars Entertainment. On May 15, 2018, it was announced that following the expiration the members' contracts, FIESTAR would disband after six years of activities.
In October 2019, she opened a YouTube channel under the name 'Life of Jei'. On August 31, 2024, FIESTAR reunited to celebrate their twelfth anniversary with Cao Lu having funded their comeback and subsequent activities. On April 1, 2025, Cao Lu shared that FIESTAR, as a group, had signed an exclusive contract with Bomnal Entertainment aiming to promote in both South Korea and mainland China.
On August 28, the members of FIESTAR revealed that they have terminated their contract with Bomnal Entertainment on July 31.
