On March 28, 2012, Brand New Stardom announced the upcoming debut of two new groups following the success of their boy group Block B. EvoL was initially scheduled to debut in mid-April through an eight-episode reality show on MBC Music. The group’s pre-debut lineup consisted of Kim YeonJo, Kwon SoHee, Lee Dasom, Song Kwanghee and Kim Junhee.
They were briefly introduced through appearances in Block B’s “NanlinA” music video and through now-deleted SNS pages. However, the reality show was later cancelled for undisclosed reasons, and the group’s debut was postponed. Lee Dasom, Song Kwanghee and Kim Junhee subsequently left the group.
On July 12, 2012, Stardom Entertainment released the first teaser for EvoL’s debut. Additional teasers followed, with member introductions beginning on July 24, revealing Say (formerly Kwon SoHee) and Jucy. The final teaser, was released on July 26, confirming a five-member lineup.
Starting on August 6, the remaining members, Hayana, J-Da (formerly Kim YeonJo) and Yull, were gradually introduced. EvoL officially debuted on August 10, 2012, with their first mini album, Let Me Explode!. On December 13, member Say hinted at a comeback via Twitter.
This was confirmed on March 13, 2013, when teasers were released for their next album. On March 18, 2013, EvoL made their first comeback with their second mini album, Second Evolution. From late 2013 to early 2015, EvoL entered a hiatus during which the members focused on individual pursuits.
Notably, Jucy participated in Triple Round Vol. 3 in November 2014 and also appeared on the rap competition shows Show Me the Money 2 and Show Me the Money 4. In August 2015, following a prolonged period of inactivity, EvoL was reported to have disbanded after Stardom Entertainment merged with Hunus Entertainment.
During the transition, only Say and Jucy remained under the newly merged agency, while Hayana, Yull, and J-Da had their contracts terminated without public explanation. Although Hunus Entertainment stated that they were reviewing the details of the contracts, no further group activities took place, and the disbandment was never formally addressed by the company. Following the disbandment of EvoL, all the members went their separate ways: - Yull, now known as Yuri, debuted as a DJ in October 2017.
- Jucy reportedly broke her contract with the newly merged company, Hunus Entertainment, and began working as an independent rapper. - Say, now known as SAAY, debuted as a soloist on July 28, 2017, with the digital single "Circle". - Hayana, now knwon as BÉBE YANA, debuted as a soloist on May 12, 2017, with her digital single "Wish".
- J-Da re-debuted in the South Korean girl group Oh! Bliss, on October 26, 2016.
