Elf was originally formed in 2003 under the name The Ulzzang with the lineup consisting of Pureun, Eseul, Hani, and Mimi. In early 2004, The Ulzzang was re-named "Elf" and released a promotional article before the album release announcing their debut. However, sometime after the article release, Mimi left the group to focus on her acting career.
Sometime in mid 2004, Daeun joined the group, however she left shortly after. She was then replaced by Jungwoo, who was selected through an open audition. On June 21, Elf debuted with their single album "Elf".
A few months after their debut, Elf disbanded sometime in November 2004 due to an unsuccessful debut.
