On March 18, 2011, CHI CHI made their debut with the lineup consisting of Nara, Peach, Ji U, Boreum, Semi, A-zi, Sui and the digital single "Don't Play Around", which gained some attention for featuring actor Lee Jong-suk. The same day, they held their debut showcase at Korea Conservatory and had their debut stage through the online game Audition. This was followed by their first live performance on Inkigayo on March 20, During their promotion on music shows, the group was accompanied by actress Hong Soo-ah.
The same month, the group was embroiled in controversy because of a statement made at their debut showcase: "Our goal is to overtake the nation's best girl group, SNSD". On April 12, the group revealed plans for a comeback in May. The same month, they started performing a new track, hinting at it being their potential comeback song.
However, the comeback was later delayed and the group finally returned on July 22 with an entirely new track, titled "Longer". On December 13, it was announced that Nara, Peach and Ji U would be leaving the group due to personal reasons and Shine would be added to the group as a new member. Additionally, the group announced plans for promotions in Japan next April.
On April 25, 2012, CHI CHI made their Japanese debut with the single album "Don't Play Around". The single included a Japanese version of their debut track alongside a new b-side, titled "Sexy Doll". On June 20, it was revealed that the group would be making a comeback soon.
Eight days later, on June 28, they released their third digital single "Love Is Energy". On July 5, Boreum was absent from their appearance on M Countdown because she was sick but later returned for their other scheduled activities. In 2013, the group became inactive.
On October 23, their choreographer, Reflexjun, confirmed via Twitter that the group had disbanded. - Peach pursued a career as a model and later married lyricist Hwang Sung-jin, in December 2018. - A-zi appeared on I Can See Your Voice 7 in 2020, under the name Baek Seo-yul.
After winning the episode, she was given a chance to release the digital single "If It Is You". However, she did not pursue any further activities in the entertainment industry after this. - During her appearance on the show, she shared that she had started working as a realtor.
The remaining members have since left the entertainment industry and focused on their personal lives.
