On March 4, 2019, MNH Entertainment shared on Twitter that they were preparing for the debut of a new five-member girl group. Until then, the agency was known as the house of soloist and former I. O.
I member Chung Ha. On March 11, two members of the group were revealed, Yiyeon and Songhee. In the following day, Simyeong and Jungwoo were revealed.
On March 13, the fifth and last member, Seungeun, was revealed. In the following days, they released teaser photos of the members, units and the group in two differents concepts, one more mature and the other more colorful and happy. On April 2, the agency started releasing prologue films of the members and a couple days later, on April 8 and 9, the teasers for the music video of the title track was shared.
On May 6, 2019, MNH Entertainment announced via BVNDIT's Twitter that the group would make their first comeback with a new digital single called "Dramatic" on May 15. On May 11, the teaser photos of the members and the group were released, followed, two days later, by a video with a teaser of the song. On July 17, the group announced their fan club name via a Twitter post.
The fandom is called "BVNDITBUL" (반딧불), which means "firefly" in Korean, and is pronounced "banditbul". At the end of the year, on November 5, the group released their first mini album, titled Be! , which included the singles they had previously released as well as new tracks and the title track "Dumb".
The digital single "Cool" was released on February 6. It was the first release of MNH Entertainment's new music project "New. wav".
On February 24, it was announced that Jungwoo would be taking a break from scheduled activities as she had been diagnosed with Influenza A. She was then unable to participate in a radio recording to ensure a full recovery On April 20, the digital single "Children" was released as a pre-release to their next mini album Carnival, which was released about a month later, on May 13. On May 27, they were announced to be performing at the 88rising's Asia Rising: Summer Edition.
Unfortunately on May 28, the concert was then postponed with no further scheduling. On June 1, they were confirmed to be a part of the K:CON:TACT 2020 Summer lineup. They then performed on the fifth day of the event on June 24.
On July 8, 2021, it was confirmed that Seungeun would be participating in Mnet's reality survival show Girls Planet 999. She was eliminated in fifth episode, which was aired on September 3. BVNDIT held a V Live on April 10, 2022, to celebrate their 3rd anniversary where they revealed that they will be making a comeback sometime in May.
On May 4, 2022, it was announced that the group would be releasing their third mini album, Re-Original on May 25. On November 11, 2022, MNH Entertainment announced that the group had officially disbanded after the members' exclusive contracts had been terminated at the end of October 2022.
