On July 7, 2020, WKS ENE and XX Entertainment announced plans to debut a new eight-member group called BOTOPASS in August. The group can communicate in four languages: Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. From July 13 to July 20, the members were revealed via social medias, starting with Mihee, followed by Shiho, Ria , Cui Xiang, Harin, Seoyoon, Jiwon, and Ahyoon respectively.
On August 3, it was announced via the group's social medias that their new debut date is August 26.
