On March 7, 2019, Sheon (then known by her full name Kim Suyeon) was revealed as a A team Entertainment trainee and a member of the pre-debut girl group ISE (now BugAboo) through a performance at Miss Malaysia's 2019 pageant. She left ISE and A team Entertainment sometime in mid-2020. Sheon became a trainee in MYSTIC STORY on Match 21, 2021.
In August 2021, she became a contestant on the survival show Girls Planet 999, where she represented MYSTIC STORY. She ranked 10th place overall in the finale episode, thus being unable to debut with Kep1er. On October 26, it was reported that MYSTIC STORY was "positively evaluating" the addition of Suyeon to its pre-existing girl group Billlie.
A month later, on November 19, it was confirmed Suyeon would join the group under the stage name Sheon. Her debut performance with the group took place on the November 27 broadcast of Show! Music Core.
