Consisting of members Seoyu and Yeseo, Babys was formed as a dance duo in December 2020. In late 2021, Ara joined Babys as a guest member. She later became an official member of the dance team.
On April 19, 2022, it was announced that a new member would be joining Babys, which was later revealed to be Bada. On May 12, 2022, the dance team announced that they would debut as an idol group using the name N-DAY. However, Bada left Babys shortly after and confirmed that she would continue with N-DAY, while Seoyu, Yeseo and Ara would stay with Babys.
Thus, it was confirmed that Babys and N-DAY have split into separate groups. On June 2, 2022, Maeum joined Babys as a guest member. She would then promote with the dance team until the end of June.
Sometime in late 2022, Ara was presumed to have left Babys due to her absence from the dance team's activities. Since then, a few unnamed guest members have promoted with the dance team replacing Ara. On June 7, 2023, Babys uploaded a recording behind video for their debut digital single "Unlock It" and confirmed that they would be debuting on June 20.
On June 24, 2023, Babys announced that Suyeon has joined the group as a new member.
