BaBa made their official debut on March 24, 2015 as a six-member girl group with their digital debut single, "Sergeant Kim's Return from Vietnam" and members Pureum, Seoae (Bobae), Somi (Bomi), Byulha (Eunseo), Hyoah and Dayul (YoonByul). In early April, Byulha (Eunseo) departed from the group as she was absent from performances. Around the same time, Seoae (Bobae) changed her stage name to Byulha following the addition of a new member, Suji, who adopted the stage name Seoae.
Later during the same month, Dayul (YoonByul) departed from the group and was subsequently replaced by a new member, Ahyoon, who took the same stage name, Dayul. in Late May, member Somi (Bomi) was absent from promotions due to a severe leg injury. Later in July, she left the group and was replaced by a new foreign member named Bimby, who took the same stage name as her.
In January, BaBa began preparations for their first comeback. However, the following month right before the single's release, Somi (Bimby) left the group and was replaced with Hyewon who was the third member to use the stage name Somi. On February 25, 2016, BaBa had their first comeback with their second digital single, "Catch Me".
In April, during promotions for the single, Byulha (Bobae) stopped appearing in performances, indicating she had left the group. Subsequently, Somi (Hyewon) left the group the following month due to health reasons. In late June, Dayul and HyoAh performed for their last time before leaving the group for personal reasons.
On July 27, BaBa performed with Three new members: Seoli, Saei and Jinri, who was the new leader of the group. As a five member girl group, Baba released their third digital single "Funky Music" on March 16, 2017. In September, now-deleted articles reported that BaBa had auditioned for the survival reality show The Unit.
However, none of the members advanced past the auditions, and the group subsequently entered another period of inactivity. Following promotions, all members except Pureum departed the group, while the third Somi (Hyewon) rejoined in November. In December, it was announced that four new members would join Pureum and Somi (Hyewon).
Over the following days, the new members were revealed as Sarang, Seungha, Starlight, Roha. Later that month, the group announced plans to make their third comeback the following year as a six-member girl group; however, newly added member Sarang departed the group the same month, prior to the comeback. In April 2018, the group returned to its previously announced six-member lineup, with Maum as their sixth member.
On July 3, 2018, BaBa released their third comeback with the digital single "Oh! My God! ".
However, once again, all members except Pureum and Starlight later departed from the group once the promotional period ended. In December, four new members Johwa, Sooreem, Seyul and Hanbom were revealed. However, Hanbom left shortly after this and was replaced by Chaeha.
On February 8, 2020, after spending much of 2019 in relative inactivity, BaBa’s performance of their then-upcoming single "예뻐질거야" aired on Radio Soda. Three days later, it was announced that Johwa and Seyul had departed from the group after not renewing their contracts. Around the same time, a new member also named Johwa joined the group.
On June 7, concept photos featuring the lineup of Pureum, Starlight, Sooreum, Chaeha, and Johwa were uploaded to the group’s official accounts. On June 14, member Pureum removed all references to the group from her Instagram account and unfollowed the group’s official account. Chaeha followed suit on June 18.
On June 20, the group’s official account changed its username to “_t__y_5” and unfollowed all accounts. The remaining members, Starlight, Sooreem, and Johwa, also removed references to the group from their social media accounts. As a result, BaBa was widely presumed to have disbanded.
