In December 2013, JYP Entertainment announced that they would debut a new six-member girl group in the first half of 2014. It would be the company's first female group since the debut of miss A in 2010. In 2014, JYP trainees Cecilia and Lena were confirmed to be in the new group, tentatively called 6MIX.
Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jihyo (also known as Jisoo), and Minyoung were rumored to be in the group. Sometime in late 2014, Cecilia left JYP Entertainment, thus leaving the group. Later on, Sana was added to the lineup.
In early 2015, Lena left JYP Entertainment. After Lena's departure, the group's debut was ultimately cancelled. Following the disbanded of 6MIX, the members went their separate ways: - In 2015, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Sana, and Minyoung became contestants on the survival show SIXTEEN.
- Minyoung was eventually eliminated in episode 10. The other four made it into lineup, and debuted in the girl group TWICE. - Minyoung soon left JYP Entertainment, and lives a normal life.
She opened a YouTube channel in 2021. - Shortly after the group's debut was cancelled, Cecilia left JYP Entertainment and returned to China, where she took on an acting career. She made her acting debut in 2016, in the film The New Year's Eve of Old Lee.
- In 2015, Lena left JYP Entertainment. She later returned to U. S.
A. , where she competed in and won the 2015 Miss Korea USA Pageant. Since then, she has lived a normal life outside of the spotlight.
