He debuted as a member of XING on December 14, 2007. He left the group sometime in 2008. He debuted as a member of BEAST (now known as Highlight) on October 16, 2009.
On March 14, 2019, he announced his departure from Highlight due to admitting his involvement with Jung Joon Young's illegal hidden camera sex footage controversy. On November 15, 2021, Around US Entertainment announced that they would be parting ways with Yong Junhyung and terminating his exclusive contract. On September 27, 2022, it was announced that Yong Junhyung would be releasing a new album in the near future, which would be his first solo comeback in four years and also his first since his departure from Around US Entertainment.
On October 11, he announced his first EP Loner, set to release on October 30, under his independent label Black Made. However, the album's release was postponed to November 10 out of respect for the victims in the incident on the 29th. On February 20, 2023, it was announced that Junhyung would be releasing his fifth digital single, "Post It", on March 2.
On August 1, Yong Junhyung released his sixth digital single "Love Song". On December 6, Yong Junhyung announced that he would be releasing his seventh digital single, "Fall Into Blue", on December 19. On March 4, 2024, Black Made announced Yong Junhyung's second EP, Beautiful Dystopia, set to be released on March 25.
