On March 8, he was introduced as a contestant on Starship Entertainment's boy group survival show Debut's Plan. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the tenth and final episode, thus being unable to debut with IDID. On June 16, he announced his departure from Starship Entertainment and released a pre-debut digital single "Rise to the World" on June 25.

On December 6, WUHAO posted a video trailer on his social media called "THIS IS ME", highlighting that he will debuting as a solo artist and referring his departure from MODHAUS. On February 21, he debuted as a soloist with releasing a digital single "Me".
