WOODZ debuted as the main rapper of the South Korean-Chinese boy group UNIQ under his birth name Cho Seung Youn on October 20, 2014. The group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2018 due to difficulty in being able to promote following political tensions between China and South Korea. Despite never having officially disbanded, the group when inactive with members focusing on their solo careers.

He finished in fifth place, thus becoming a member of the boy group X1.
The group officially debuted on August 27, 2019 with the mini album, 비상: Quantum Leap. However, on January 6, 2020, the agencies representing the members announced the group's disbandment due to not being able to reach a unanimous agreement following the Produce 101 vote manipulation controversy. On September 17, he announced he would be making his comeback with his third mini album, Only Lovers Left, on October 5. On October 5, Yue Hua announced that WOODZ would be leaving the agency at the end of the month following the expiration of his contract after deciding not to renew.
It was reported by local media that he would be signing with EDAM Entertainment, however the agency stated that nothing has been decided yet. On October 25, EDAM Entertainment announced that WOODZ had officially signed on with the agency as their first male artist, thus confirming his departure from Yue Hua Entertainment. On December 8, he announced his seventh digital single "Amnesia", which was released on December 18. On September 16, WOODZ announced his upcoming release, later revealed to be the digital single "I'll Never Love Again", to be released on September 24.
On September 12, 2025, WOODZ released the demo version of "Falling" on SoundCloud. On October 24, WOODZ released the official version on streaming platforms. Concept photo for [[Archive.
1]] On January 30, 2026, EDAM Entertainment confirmed that WOODZ is preparing for a new album expected to be released in March. On February 1, WOODZ announced his first full-length album, Archive. 1, scheduled for March 4.
