When he lived in Daegu, his hometown, Suga was an underground rapper under the name of "Gloss". On June 13, 2013, he debuted as a member of BTS, with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool". On August 16, 2016, under the name Agust D, he released his first mixtape of the same name.
In January of 2019, Suga co-wrote and featured on 's "Song Request". In December that year, Suga produced and featured on the track "Suga's Interlude" from 's studio album Manic. Suga produced and featured on the track "Eight" by IU in May 2020.
Days later, he released his second mixtape, D-2, with its lead single, "Daechwita". In 2021, he was featured on 's "Girl of My Dreams". He also collaborated with Psy on "That That", the lead single from PSY's eighth studio album, Psy 9th.
The song was released on April 29, 2022. On February 14, 2023, it was announced that Suga would be embarking on his first solo world tour, Suga Agust D Tour, making him the first BTS member to have a solo tour. The tour would begin with a two-night stint in Belmont Park, New York on April 26 and 27, 2023 and would make stops across the U.
S, followed by Asia, Seoul, and Japan legs. On March 31, it was announced that Suga would be having his own solo documentary, Suga: Road To D-Day, which would air on both Weverse and Disney+. On April 3, BigHit announced that Suga would be making his solo debut with D-Day on April 21.
Additionally, he will be releasing a pre-release single titled "People Pt. 2" on April 7 featuring IU.
