In 2017, he participated on the idol rebooting project show The Unit. He was eliminated in episode 15 and finished in 14th place. On January 14, 2023, it was announced that Rockhyun will make his solo debut on February 10 with the single "Over".
On February 10, 2024, Rock Hyeon released his first Japanese digital single "Kitto". On February 3, 2025, it was announced that Rock Hyeon will release his second digital single "Only You" on February 10.
