On January 29, 2021, Pentor, then known simply as Tor, was introduced as a trainee under Insight Entertainment. On July 1, it was announced that Pentor would take part in the Sandbox Project of Insight Entertainment, in the trainee group Insight Rookies. The group debuted on July 5, 2021, with the digital single "I Like U Summer".
On September 25, he was revealed as a contestant for one31's survival show LAZ iCON. During the show's finale, he was revealed to have ranked 5th overall with 2,248,515 votes, thus making him a member of LAZ1. On April 7, 2022, Pentor made his debut in the group with the release of their debut digital single "Taste Me".
LAZ1 disbanded on March 11, 2023, after their final event LAZ1 Goodbye Party "Once". He made his solo debut on March 31, 2023, with the digital single "Buzzkill" under the stage name PentorJrp. On September 29, 2024, Pentor was introduced as a contestant on the Chinese-South Korean survival show Starlight Boys.
During the show's finale, he was revealed to have ranked 5th overall, thus making him a member of POLARIX. On May 28, 2025, Pentor made his debut as a member of POLARIX with the EP Freefall.
