In March 2017, Park Jihoon was introduced as a contestant on the second season of Mnet's reality survival show Produce 101, a year and nine-month trainee representing his agency Maroo Entertainment. In the finale, he was revealed to have ranked 2nd place, securing his spot in the project group Wanna One. Wanna One debuted with their first mini album 1X1=1 (To Be One) on August 7, 2017 and concluded activities following their final concert on January 27, 2019.
He made his solo debut on March 26, 2019 with the mini album O'Clock. On June 29, 2022, it was announced that he would be one of the three Korean mentors of the Thai reality survival show Seven Stars, alongside Youngjae and Kim Jun Su. On August 12, Maroo Entertainment confirmed that Park Jihoon is preparing to return with a new album in September.
On September 23, it was announced that he will release his sixth mini album The Answer on October 12. On March 16, JoyNews24 reported that Park Jihoon will be having a comeback in April. Hours later, Maroo Entertainment confirmed the reports and added that Jihoon is in the final stages of preparing for his comeback.
On March 23, it was announced that he will release his seventh mini album Blank or Black on April 12. On February 29, 2024, news outlet Osen reported that Park Jihoon would not be renewing his contract with Maroo Entertainment following the expiration of his contract and is currently in talks with various other agencies. On May 28, SPOTV News reported that he signed with YY Entertainment.
YY Entertainment officially announced Park Jihoon as their new artist on August 5. On March 5, 2026, it was reported that Park Jihoon is preparing for a comeback with an album in April. Hours later, his agency confirmed the reports.
On March 25, YY Entertainment announced his first single album "Re:flect", scheduled for April 29.
