Kim Jae Joong made his solo debut on January 17, 2013 with his first mini album I. On April 19, 2023, it was announced that Kim Jae Joong would be leaving C-JeS Entertainment after 14 years. On May 4, Kim Jae Joong established his new agency, iNKODE.
On May 10, 2024, iNKODE announced that Kim Jae Joong is currently in the preparations for his upcoming full-length album, aiming for a late June release, to celebrate his 20th debut anniversary. It was later announced that he will release the pre-release single "I Am U" on June 11, before releasing his fourth full-length album Flower Garden on June 26. On September 6, Kim Jae Joong and Kim Jun Su unveiled a series of teasers, hinting at their collaboration under the name JX.
On December 12, iNKODE announced that Kim Jae Joong will return with the single album "Sequence #4" on December 26. On April 7, 2025, it was announced that Kim Jae Joong would release "Where Love Stays", on April 10. On April 28, Kim Jae Joong announced his first EP Beauty in Chaos scheduled to be released on May 19.
On September 29, iNKODE has announced that Kim Jae Joong will release his first Japanese mini album, Rhapsody, on October 17, 2025.
