On August 9, 2021, he was introduced as the first contestant of the survival show Wild Idol. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the third episode and was unable to make it further in the show. On September 15, his official SNS announced with a profile photo and the news about his solo debut under KM Entertainment.
On September 16, revealed that he would debut with an EP (labeled as single album) titled The End of Summer on September 20.
