On April 28, 2016, Shinhoo Entertainment announced its business closure, and the group was presumed to have disbanded. In 2019, following several years of hiatus, Jay, now promoting under his birth name Joel, returned to the entertainment industry. His appearances included programs such as Immortal Songs, Video Star, AM Plaza, South Korean Foreigners, Top Goal Rhapsody, and Wow! Surf Rise. In early 2022, he was announced as a weekly guest on the radio program K Poppin.
On March 25, he launched the podcast Korean Cowboys with Aaron, which has usually aired weekly since its debut. On January 21, 2023, it was confirmed that Jeol Lane would participate in JTBC’s Peak Time as part of BTL, alongside former members Q. L, Robin and Yeon.
The group was introduced through a silhouette performance of "BTD (Before the Dawn)" by INFINITE. However, they were eliminated in episode 2. On July 9, 2023, Joel signed with the entertainment company A2Z Entertainment.
Following the signing, he expanded his activities into modeling and brand endorsements. On February 21, 2024, Joel made his solo debut with the digital single "Falling".
