In 2017, Yongjin who represented Illusion Entertainment, participated in survival show Produce 101 Season 2. He was eliminated in the episode 8 and finished in 56th place. After the show, he made his solo debut on September 5, 2017 with the digital single "Different + Ing".
Before he released his album, he made a post on Instagram stating that he was diagnosed with glaucoma.
