He officially debuted as the member of South Korean rock band DAY6 on September 7, 2015, with the mini album The Day. On January 1, 2022, Jae announced that he will be taking a hiatus from group activities until further notice. Later the same day, JYP Entertainment announced that Jae left the group and terminated his contract with the company as of December 31, 2021.
He made his solo debut on April 8, 2022 with his first digital single "Car Crash". On April 4, 2025, he announced his new digital single "Ruin My Life", which would be released on April 18. On June 5, he announced that the first part of his fifth EP titled 1, will be released on June 27.
