On June 18, 2021, Doyoung passed Level 2 of the 53rd Korean History Proficiency Test .

On September 25, SM Entertainment announced that Doyoung will release a remake of Jung Joonil's "First Love" on October 1 as part of the 'First Love Project'.
On October 28, SM Entertainment announced the digital single "The Story", scheduled for November 6. On November 22, for the director’s cut of the drama 'Sorry, I Love You 2024,' as a part of Wavve's New Classic Project Part 2, Doyoung will release a remake of Park Hyoshin's Snow Flower. On February 10, SM Entertaiment revealed that Doyoung will be releasing his second full-length album in the second quarter of the year.
On April 18, it was announced that Doyoung will release his second full-length album on June 9. That same day, it was also revealed that Doyoung will held his second concert Doors, on June 14 and June 15 in South Korea. On May 19, NCT announced that Doyoung would be releasing his second full-length album, Soar, on June 9.
